Halloween is almost here. If you are going to plan a spooky décor, haunting music, and plenty of ghoulish food, another part of the Halloween party planner process is choosing the right wines. If you are hosting a party for your friends or your customers, here are some delicious Riesling wines to pour at your Halloween themed party.
Long Shadows Vintners - Poet's Leap Riesling
Long Shadows Vintners - Poet's Leap Riesling by Long Shadows Vintners (United States) is inspired by the great wines of Germany. Gilles Nicault crafts Poet's Leap in the style of its original winemaker - Armin Diel. This wine has expressive aromatics of white flowers, ripe pear, and peach that are laced with a delightful hint of wet stone minerality. It is lively and pure on the palate, with fresh citrus, honey, and mouthwatering apricot flavors. Long Shadows Vintners - Poet's Leap Riesling has a delicious natural acidity and traces of residual sugar provide a balanced, vibrant mouthfeel and long, satisfying finish.
The 2018 Poet’s Leap Riesling is an equal blend of three distinct vineyards. German clones from The Benches in the Horse Heaven Hills provide appealing minerality. Yakima Valley’s Phil Church Vineyard contributes citrus aromas and flavors. Dionysus Riesling, from vines planted in 1972, adds vibrant acidity and stone fruit characteristics.

Montinore Estate Almost Dry Riesling
Montinore Estate Almost Dry Riesling by Montinore Estate has aromas of poached pears, melon, citrus, and Golden Delicious apple that are accented with nutmeg and a hint of white flowers. The vibrancy of the palate would light up even the grayest day - grapefruit, kiwi, starfruit, and candied citrus rind mix and mingle in a harmonious marriage of slight sweetness and a kiss of acidity. With 13% ABV, this Almost Dry Riesling leans more toward dry than sweet, but the balance makes it an easygoing sipper that both sweet and dry wine lovers can agree on.

Dry Riesling
Dry Riesling by Trefethen Family Vineyards is vibrant and refreshing. This is the most transparent wine that the winery makes, a pure expression of their estate vineyards. Trefethen Family Vineyards produced their first Riesling in 1974, made in a distinctively dry and crisp style. Dry Riesling is dright and aromatic, it is marvelously food-friendly and cellar-worthy.
Dry Riesling has floral aromas of orange blossom and jasmine that are complemented by fresh notes of green apple and grapefruit. On the palate, this bright, yet luscious wine evolves with flavors of nectarine, white peach, and Honeycrisp apple. The minerality and beautiful acidity provide an invigorating finish.
FOOD PAIRING:
Dry Riesling pairs best with bright, fresh flavors. Fresh cilantro, lime juice and zest, raw fish, and jasmine rice play well with the floral notes of this wine. Winery Chef Chris Kennedy suggests pairing with butter-poached lobster, halibut Crudo, or burrata crostini with avocado, cilantro, and lime.
