Every bottle of Pago Finca Élez wine contains a story, a narrative deeply rooted in the distinct terroir of our estate. Our Pago status is more than an honor; it embodies our unwavering commitment to producing wines with unparalleled character and distinction.
Since its foundation in 1992, Finca Élez has been on a quest to create exceptional wines that stand out in the world of viticulture. Our dedication bore fruit in 2002 when we were recognized with Spain's first estate-specific Designation of Origin, a true acknowledgment of the superior quality of our wines.
As a founding partner of Grandes Pagos de España, we are in the company of those who share our passion for the finest estate wines. The recent transition to the Villoldo Ruiz family in 2020 has ushered in an exciting new era for Pago Finca Élez, one that honors our rich heritage while looking ahead to a future brimming with potential.
Under the guidance of Olallo Villoldo and Llanos Ruiz, we take pride in our legacy, the recognition our wines have received, and the direction we are headed. Our project stands on a foundation as solid as ever, with our high-altitude vineyards and distinctive microclimate ensuring the exclusivity of our wines.
Spanning 38.9 hectares, our vineyards are not just plots of land; they represent the canvas on which we craft grapes that eloquently express their origin. We adhere to a philosophy of 'less is more,' concentrating on low yields to guarantee that each grape is a symbol of excellence.
The winery, cradled within the estate, is where our meticulous journey from vine to bottle unfolds. The elevation of our vineyards, reaching up to 1080 metres, plays a pivotal role in the finesse of our red wines. The stark diurnal temperature variations during the growth period create a balance of acidity and tannins that is ideal for barrel aging.
Our challenging terrain contributes to the unique profile of our wines. The dry, stony soil, the harsh climate, and the native Spanish junipers and herbs all contribute to the distinctive flavors of our grapes.
In the vineyard, our commitment to viticulture is steadfast as we pick in small quantities to preserve the integrity of the fruit. In the winery, we pay homage to the grape with time-honored methods that exalt the quality of our primary resource.
At Pago Finca Élez, we don't merely produce wine; we offer an experience as singular as our estate. We invite you to immerse yourself in the exclusivity of our wines, which are the quintessence of the land they hail from.
We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to share our narrative and our wines with you
