3. Torii Mor Winery

About: Torii Mor Winery started with a vision: the pursuit of elegant, Old World style Pinot Noir.

Dr. Donald Olson moved to Oregon to pursue this vision and purchased an older vineyard in the Willamette Valley, planted in 1972, and renamed it Olson Estate Vineyard. High in the Dundee Hills, the ten acres of old vines produce high-quality Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay year after year.

Don was drawn to the close ties Pinot Noir has to the earth and its ability to express terroir. The name Torii Mor derives from the Torii gate in the property’s Japanese garden and the ancient Scandinavian word for earth. Together, the name is a nod to Pinot Noir’s expression of terroir and connection to the earth.

After the first vintage in 1993 with just 1,000 cases, Torii Mor today produces 10,000 cases annually under the direction of Burgundian winemaker Jacques Tardy. Jacques produces those wines of elegance and balance that Don began pursuing years ago and Torii Mor continues to pursue elegance in winemaking, respect for the earth, and balanced wines that can be enjoyed for years to come.

Order and Pick up Details: Torii Mor is offering complimentary shipping on orders of 6 bottles or more! Bottle sales and curbside pickups are now available at the Torii Mor Woodinville Tasting Room on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 – 5 PM.

Contact: Give them a call at 425.908.7111 if you would like to schedule a curbside pickup and they will bring it out to you! You can also call to place a shipping order or visit their website at www.toriimorwinery.com.

5. Rocky Pond Winery

About: Three years later we bought a one-acre lot on the Columbia River in Eastern Washington, thinking it would be fun to plant a few vines, make a little wine, to remember those trips by. But we soon discovered that, just as vines dig roots deep into the soil, they’d sunk those roots deep into us, too.

One month later we were digging test pits for soil content, had a vineyard consultant determining where each varietal would grow the best, and consulting with a winemaker who told us that our instincts had been right, that the soil around us was both unique and amazing, and we should buy more.

And so, with the acquisition of the amazing Clos CheValle as well as our Double D vineyard, Rocky Pond Winery came to life, born of love, dedication, and maybe a little-inspired madness.

We believe all the talented professionals who came into our lives to help develop our vineyards and to make truly great wines for us, were miracles sent our way that we
