VB has a wealth of experience representing both small producers and large volume brands. They represent over 60 wineries from the major wine-growing regions throughout the world. The portfolio includes some of the best wines available from Argentina, Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Germany, Italy and France, including over 25 growers of estate-bottled wines in Bordeaux, Burgundy, Chablis, the Rhône, the Loire Valley, Alsace, and Southern France.

History

Vineyard Brands was founded in 1971 by Robert Haas. Bob began his career in 1950 working as the import buyer for M. Lehmann, his family’s wine shop in New York City which would later become Sherry Lehmann. As Bob became more interested in the import wine business and less interested in the retail business, he began importing and selling wine in markets other than New York through Leeds Imports Corporation,a wine import company started by Bob and his father. In 1967, Bob’s father retired from the wine business and Leeds Imports Corporation was sold.

Today, Vineyard Brands has over 65 employees located throughout the United States and 2 offices, one in Birmingham, Alabama, and the other in the heart of New York City. The headquarters remain in Birmingham, Alabama, where they have approximately 25 employees who handle all shipping, accounting, and compliance activities and the production of all promotional materials and advertising for Vineyard Brands.

Winning Wine

Vineyard Brands have won many awards for their delightful wines including the Sommeliers Choice Awards 2020. This time Gold medal winner with 95 points is Champagne Delamotte Brut Rosé NV.

In a bottle of Brut, an orchestra of three grape varieties plays a particularly balanced score. The 55% Chardonnay content forms the backbone of its structure while the 35% Pinot Noir from Tours-sur-Marne, Bouzy, and Ambonnay give it depth and fruit. The 10% Pinot Meunier perfects these harmonies with aromatic density. Without ever assaulting the palate, this is a beautifully powerful champagne. Freshness and roundness merge to deliver a clean, fruity finish, with a well-balanced and elegant length on the palate. A light dosage is added to Delamotte Brut champagne after thirty-six months’ maturation on the lees, as is the case for the entire Delamotte range.
