Miklós Katona is an Advanced Sommelier and Director of Wine for the newly established Encore Boston Harbor. He was born and raised in Hungary where he earned degrees in Physical Education and Hospitality and Marketing. Before relocating to Las Vegas in 2001, he traveled the world on the British Luxury Cruise Line P&O and worked at the Silverado Resort in Napa Valley.
While residing in Las Vegas, Miklós took part in opening Aria Resort and Casino’s tapas restaurant Julian Serrano. At the same time, Miklós worked as a Sommelier/Wine Manager with two time James Beard Award winning chef/co-owner Paul Bartolotta at the Forbes 5 star rated Wynn Resort and Casino restaurant Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare. Even after the name of the restaurant changed to Costa di Mare, Miklós continued to oversee the unique and highly successful wine program.
Miklós earned an Italian Wine Specialist degree with honors through the North American Sommelier Association. He also holds a degree as a Spanish Wine Educator through The Wine Academy of Spain. He is the Director of Education for the Confrerie of Tokaj and is an Ambassador of Tokaj in Hungary. Miklós has been published by various local, national and international wine journals. As for his next ventures, he looks forward to opening Encore Boston Harbor in summer of 2019 and is currently studying for the prestigious Master Sommelier examination offered through the Court of Master Sommeliers.
