Michael is the Director of B2B Sales at Coravin, the wine preservation system revolutionizing the way wine is purchased and consumed in restaurants, retail, and at home. He also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas, where he co-chairs the Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee and chairs the Governance Committee.
With over 25 years in the hospitality industry, Michael brings a unique blend of global perspective and practical expertise. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, an Associate’s from the Culinary Institute of America, a master’s degree from the University of Adelaide in South Australia, and the WSET Diploma. His career spans the full route to market, with key roles at Treasury Wine Estates, Jackson Family Wines, and Vineyard Road, as well as recognition on the global competition circuit, where he won the National Best Young Sommelier title and placed second in the Best Young Sommelier in the World competition.
Michael previously ran a successful hospitality consulting business for nearly a decade, working with clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies and multinational organizations to private individuals seeking the very best wine experiences. His insights have been published in the Journal of Culinary Science and Technology, the Guild of Sommeliers, and The Somm Journal, and his pursuit of the Master Sommelier Diploma was profiled in the book Dark Horse: Achieving Success Through the Pursuit of Fulfillment. He is also Chairman Emeritus of the Boston Sommelier Society.
Michael has traveled extensively for wine, culinary, and educational experiences across Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America, and he continues to pair global insight with business acumen in every professional endeavor. Away from work, he is rooted in Groton, Massachusetts. He enjoys coaching his boys in various sports, woodworking, being outdoors, and the occasional cold beer—though not necessarily in that order.
