Fred and Nancy Cline founded Cline Family Cellars in 1982 in Oakley, California, making their first vintages from original plantings of Mourvèdre, Zinfandel, and Carignane, some of which dated back to the 1880s.

In 1989, they purchased a 350-acre horse farm in Sonoma-Carneros and moved the winery here. This is where they raised their seven children, some now work at the winery and in the vineyards.

CLINE Family Cellars is Certified California Sustainable and Sonoma County Sustainable. Pesticides and herbicides are not used to grow our grapes. We farm sustainably, using cover crops and compost teas to nourish the soil, and sheep to control the weeds to create healthy vines now and for the next generations.
